Episode 804 - AKUREYRI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Today, RÚV English Radio flies into Akureyri International Airport, on the edge of the Arctic Circle, and connecting the north of Iceland to the world like never before.

Major changes took place at north Iceland's airport, Akureyri (https://www.innanlandsflugvellir.is/en/akureyri-airport/), in 2024.

A new 1,000 square metre terminal building opened - complete with duty free - reflecting its growing international services and ambitions, serving countries such as the UK, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and others.

Darren met airport manager Hermann Jóhannesson for a chat - and a trip onto the runway.
