Today on RÚV English Radio, the annual festival marking the end of the Vestmannaeyjar eruption.
On July 3, 1973, a volcanic eruption in the town of Vestmannaeyar was finally declared over. Every year, the Westman islanders celebrate this day, with the annual Goslokahátíð; literally, eruption-closed-festival!
