Today, RÚV English Radio is in Vopnafjörður.
The East Iceland Emigration Centre (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100064365446963) is an organisation of volunteers interested in re-establishing contact with the descendants of the people who left East and Northeast Iceland after the eruption of Askja in 1875.
Every year, Western Icelanders from Canada and the United States - sometimes even from Brazil - come to Vopnafjörður and other places in the East and Northeast.
Darren met with Cathy Josephson at the Centre.
