RÚV English today looks ahead to this year's Reykjavík Marathon.
The Marathon has taken place every year since 1984, in the centre of Reykjavik. It always happens on Saturday, August 18th or the Saturday after - this year, that's the 19th of the month. The race starts and ends in the City Centre of Reykjavik nearby The Pond (Tjörnin), and there are four different events to choose from.
Darren spoke to event manager Hrefna Hlín Sveinbjörnsdóttir about the marathon, its history, the sights that runners will see, and how to register if you fancy running.

The Marathon date also marks the anniversary of Reykjavik City. Reykjavik Culture Night (Menningarnótt) takes place in the capital on the same day, one of the most popular events in Iceland and the city's greatest celebration.
