Today on RÚV English Radio, Pride begins across the north east of Iceland.
The Hinsegin hátíð á Norðurlandi eystra (https://www.hinseginhatid.is), or Pride in Northeast Iceland, will take place from today, 18, to 22 June.
The aim of the festival is to increase the visibility of the LGBTQ+ community and builds on the work that has taken place in Hrísey, where the first Hinsegin hátíð í Hrísey was held in 2023.
All the municipalities in Northeast Iceland, along with Queer North Iceland and Queer Festival in Hrísey, have designed a festival in which various events will be held throughout the region.
In Húsavík on Friday, the exhibitions Out of the Shadows and BACK/LASH will open at the town's museum (https://www.husmus.is/is/um-mmth/frettir/pride-opnunopening). They are curated by Nicola van Kuilenburg, who joins Darren today on RÚV English Radio.
